Our Favorite Places To Stay

Chateau Versailles, Port Henry, NY

Peter Weyrauch is your host at "Chateau Versailles" and when not hosting guests can likely be found down at the marina racing J24s or crewing for SAIL Adirondacks. This large home sits on a hill on Spring Street with gorgeous Lake Champlain and Green Mountain views. The house is also a gallery space for the renowned photography of your host Peter and is filled with other art as well. The house has a huge library/sitting/common room with gas fireplace. The guest rooms and much of the house have recently been tastefully renovated. Tons of off street parking with the capability to handle trailers, boats and RVs.

Sara-Placid Inn and Suites, Saranac Lake, NY 

Bob and Colleen Farmer are the new owners of the Sara Placid located on Rte 86 in Saranac Lake. Bob and Colleen are friends of SAIL Adirondacks and will put you up in style at the S&P.  They are in an ideal vacation spot situated just east of the Olympic village of Lake Placid and 14 miles from our Upper Saranac Lake base access point. The motel is walking distance to downtown Saranac Lake and a very short walk to a variety of great dining. Lake Flower is just across the street where there is public  access to docks for launching  canoes, kayaks or paddle boards.

Robins Nest, Saranac Lake, NY 

Our friend Robin Calkins is your host at the Robin’s Nest on Franklin Avenue in Saranac Lake. The nest is centrally located in Saranac Lake and walking distance to great food and drink downtown and about a two mile drive to Saranac Lake Marina.

Coupled with the ability to camp on selected island sites, being able to fish for your dinner after hours of sailing might make you want to stay here forever. The public access is just 7 miles from our Upper Saranac Lake Base at the Old Dock Road.

Essex/Charlotte ferry to VT and the quaint homes and shops that look much as they probably did 200 years ago. The property is a 20-minute drive to SAILADKS Bridgeview Harbour Marina base at Port Henry, NY and 90-minute drive to Upper Saranac Lake base.

boat up to 18 feet (including motor), and we provide a canoe and three kayaks.
