Learn to Sail Saranac Lake

In 2023 we will be sailing from the Indian Carry state boat launch at the south end of Upper Saranac Lake. The SAIL ADKs Learn to Sail program features our O’Day 23 small cruiser, and Sunfish dinghy sailor. Camping on or around Saranac Lake? Sailing lessons are a great way to spice up those lazy days around the camp site. Lessons are offered in three hour blocks and we will customize the lesson schedule and duration to meet your time and budget requirements.  Learning to sail is a great family activity and the O’Day can up to four passengers. Lessons include a small amount of on-shore training and a lot of time on the water and at the helm. Based on your interest, and available time, topics that can be built into your experience include:

  • Boat Handling

  • Tacking & Jibing

  • Hoisting & Trimming Sails

  • Points of Sail

  • Fun with Mr. Spinnaker
